Last night was a major milestone for our club as we held the election for our next term’s president, starting this June.
Before the election, two speakers delivered prepared speeches to kick-start the evening
Denzel shared a powerful realisation: a house does not necessarily equal a home. After being evicted twice – most recently forcing him and his family to live temporarily in a small service apartment – he discovered something unexpected. It was within those cramped walls, surrounded by loved ones and the memories they created together, that he truly understood the difference. A house, he reflected, is simply a roof overhead. But a home? A home is where peace resides, and where cherished memories are made.
Next Stephanie delivered a powerful message: hobbies are not just pastimes – they can also teach valuable life lessons. Using tennis as an example, she shared two key insights. First, after struggling to find the right fit through several different coaches and nearly giving up on the sport entirely, she decided to give one more coach a chance – and this time, things finally clicked. Second, her long search for a compatible coach helped her adjust her approach when working with a difficult manager at work. She closed with an enduring message for the audience: where there is a will, there is a way.
Congratulations to Lavanya Remesh, our newly elected 81st president! She’s ready to hit the ground running this June, focusing on growing our community and supporting everyone in the club family. Let’s make this next term amazing!
