[Meeting: May 12, 2025] Our annual Club President Election Day is held on May 12th!
It’s a paramount day for the Hong Kong Toastmaster Club as we prepare to elect a visionary leader who will guide our club and members for the upcoming term, from July 1, 2025, to Jun 30, 2026.
Before the election, we enjoyed our regular session featuring prepared speeches.
First Speaker: Chester Chan
Chester captivated us with his presentation, “Architecturally Speaking.” Drawing on his expertise as an architect, he used the analogy of building entrances and textures to illustrate elements of storytelling. His beautiful PowerPoint slides enhanced the experience, making his insights both engaging and visually appealing.
Second Speaker: Ryan Li
Ryan shared valuable lessons in his speech about “Mirrors.” He emphasized the importance of checking our team, equipment, and backup plans before taking action. Through personal anecdotes about hiking and camping with his two young children, he reflected on challenges they faced and highlighted the need for better preparation.
Final Speaker: Irene Cheng
Irene inspired us with her heartfelt message on pursuing passion in our careers. She shared her journey from administrative work to becoming a teacher, emphasizing that this path is her lifelong calling. Her touching speech truly lit up the room.
During the table topics session, four brave speakers took the stage to discuss role models, superpowers, magic wands, and messages to their future selves. Their contributions were both inspiring and humorous.
Now, it’s time for the presidential election! With one nomination, the members voted unanimously for Shoni Wang, who also serves as VP of Membership in this term. Our president, Ryan Li, then presented the gavel to the president-elect as a symbol of our club’s leadership succession.
Congratulations to Shoni on becoming our 80th president! She expressed her gratitude and commitment to ensuring the Hong Kong Toastmaster Club remains a warm and supportive family where everyone can learn and grow.
